The most amazing Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri is made with a load of fresh, frozen strawberries!! No ice to dilute the flavour, and it’s got the perfect slushy consistency. Dangerously easy to drink – there’s a decent slug of booze in this but you can’t taste it!
What goes in Strawberry Daiquiris: strawberries, white rum (Bacardi, Havana Club), lime and sugar syrup. Freeze the strawberries so you don’t need ice!
Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri
Strawberry Daiquiris are everything that comes to mind when I think of cocktails:
-
dangerously drinkable even though it’s got a good slug of rum;
-
looks bright, cheerful and as fabulous as it tastes;
-
looks impressive, especially when you nail that perfect slushy consistency so you get a small mound but drinkable – rather than so icy it’s like eating sorbet with a spoon!
-
it’s refreshing…. and boozy….
The added bonus here is that it’s made with a hefty amount of fresh strawberries which are loaded with good-for-you antioxidants so let’s believe that the good in this cocktail cancels out the bad… 😂
The best frozen strawberry daiquiris are made without ice – it dilutes the flavour!
What goes in Frozen Strawberry Daiquiris
Here’s what you need for Frozen Strawberry Daiquiris:
-
Fresh strawberries – mostly frozen and some fresh. If you only use frozen, it comes out like a sorbet texture that you need to eat with a spoon. So I like to use a combination of frozen and fresh!
-
White rum – Bacardi is my white rum of choice but you can use any, like Havana Club, Appleton, Cruz. Bacardi is a mid shelf quality white rum. With the fresh flavour of strawberries in this cocktail recipe, you can get away with using any good value or mid level white rum. I personally choose not to use top-shelf liquor for flavoured cocktails because I think it’s a waste. 🙂
-
Lime – essential for a true daiquiri!
-
Sugar syrup – just a mixture of equal parts white sugar and water, dissolved. Don’t use sugar that’s not in syrup form because this is a cold drink so the sugar won’t dissolve. I have a jar in the fridge at all times – for cocktail emergencies! 😂
What type of alcohol goes in a daiquiri?
Frozen Strawberry Daiquiris are made with white rum which is clear. I use Bacardi which is a popular mid-level brand which is widely available around most of the world. But you can use any, like Havana Club, Appleton, Cruz. Bacardi is a mid shelf quality white rum.
As a general rule, I use mid level liquor for cocktails that are mixed with other flavours because I think it’s unnecessary to use top shelf liquor.
Make it alcohol free!
Skip the white rum and use apple juice instead! The layers of flavour in the fruit juice will add a little something-something to this cocktail that the rum adds. If you just use water, you will just end up with a strawberry slushy – still tasty mind you, but it will lack that extra layer of flavour liquor adds too cocktails.
How to make Frozen Strawberry Daiquiris
Dump and blitz!
Note: You need a powerful blender or Nutribullet-type blitzing device to blend the frozen strawberries into a slushy texture.
Note the consistency of the Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri above and in the video below. It’s like a sloppy slushy – not icy like a sorbet that calls for a spoon to eat it (who wants to eat their cocktails??!!). You should be able to drink it – but it should mound slightly initially then slowly melt!
When to serve Frozen Strawberry Daiquiris
Make this strawberry daiquiri recipe for:
-
gatherings with friends on warm balmy days;
-
sipping poolside;
-
those times when you bulk buy strawberries cause you can’t resist a bargain (me!);
-
tropical BBQ’s; and
-
dinner parties with the girls!

Recipe Notes:
2. Sugar Syrup - equal parts white sugar and water, bring to simmer on stove until sugar dissolves. Pour into jar and cool before use. OR user any other liquid syrup of choice.
3. White rum - Bacardi (my choice), Havana Club, or other of choice
4. VARIATION - use 90 ml / 3 oz white rum and 30 ml / 1 oz Cointreau. Adds a little extra hint of tropical flavour to it! I do this often.

Yummmmmmm. Finally had everything I needed. Perfection, the addition of the fresh strawberries is everything.

I made these today and can 100% recommend. I didn’t quite get the slushy consistency, mine were a bit more liquidy, but still thick and icy cold. I followed the measurements for two exactly but for the following two I added 10ml less lime juice and 10ml more sugar syrup. Dangerously drinkable, I was definitely giddy after two, but I’m generally a non drinker so perhaps that’s why. So easy to make after the prep is done, I’ll be treating guests to these for the next few days.

Another deliciously simple recipe, great flavour and consistency- a refreshing summer cocktail
Alicia says
Yum! Followed recipe exact BUT substituted rum for a non alcoholic version (highly recommend Sans Bar ‘Summer Carnivale’) – just as amazing as the ‘real’ thing and perfect for anyone who does not or can not drink as they can join the party and not miss out on any of the yummy-ness. Going to try it with mangoes next 🙂

Wonderful on a hot day! Tasty. Ideal consistency with the frozen and the fresh strawberries. Used a bit of Cointreau too.
Rachel says
Nagi these are dangerous! I’ve had one twice in two nights. Perfect summer drink. I used all frozen strawberries as I like the thicker cold taste.

This recipe is amazing and I have made it multiple times.

Wowza, giant steps above your ordinary strawberry daiquiri. In addition to amazing strawberry taste, the color is so beautiful. I substituted agave nectar for the simple syrup.
Saskia says
I have just picked about 3 kilos of strawberries and have some pulverised strawberries in the freezer. I am going to try your recipe but with bourbon (because I am a bourbon drinker) and lemon (because I have these on my tree)!

Yummy. Remind guests how strong they are, 3 shots. Consideration to drivers
Denise says
what do you think about making this earlier in day and place the pitcher in freezer or refrigerator?
Nagi says
Absolutely! Just use a jug that’s safe for freezing (not glass) and you might need to blitz it for a few seconds before pouring to get the consistency right. N x
Lorraine says
Oh my oh my. How delicious! I’ve made daiquiri before but not with frozen strawberries. I’m converted. Loved by all the family.
Jemma says
Will this work in an actual ‘slush puppy’ style machine so its constantly ready to go?
Nagi says
No idea Jemma, but I feel like I need to know this! Let me know if you try! N x

Just made these to make isolation less of a drag. Did not have enough white rum, so used half white, half raspberry. No fresh strawberries as not been shopping… but the result was a dream!

Sounds fabulous Nikki, have one for me! N x

Just a tad limey for me. But good and so easy. Don’t need to buy that frozen stuff ever again.

Hi nagi
I have a party and want to make them ahead of time so i am not on the blender all night! If i do and put them in mason jars and store in the freezer will this work?
Nagi says
Hi Jamie, unfortunately no as they will freeze and wont be of a soft, slushy consistency. N x
